Soest

Soest has a lot to offer: outstanding architectural monuments made of green sandstone, an almost completely preserved medieval town wall, romantic alleyways, pretty half-timbered houses and an important past. The "globally unique green sandstone ensemble Altstadt Soest" has a lot to offer and always presents itself differently. This is proven not least by the many perspectives from which a discovery tour with a guide is always worthwhile. You can also book your preferred guided tour directly on this website with just a few clicks. To help you find exactly the right offer for your stay in Soest, the Tourist Information team will also be happy to provide you with advice and assistance and one or two insider tips in person.

GROUP HIGHLIGHTS

Are you looking for a varied idea for a day tour? How about a combination of a guided tour of the old town of Soest and our "Country tour through the Soester Börde"? You can look forward to a Westfalen coffee break and exciting insights into the work of regional farms - an ideal opportunity to get to know the country and its people in an authentic way.
Small groups can take advantage of the new "Börde modules", which have been put together by Soest, Möhnesee and Bad Sassendorf. Choose two or three modules to suit your taste and book conveniently via one of the tourist information offices. The only requirement: combine at least two destinations to create your own personal tour!

NOTE

Did you know that there are more than 600 listed buildings in Soest's historic old town center? These include St. Petri, the oldest church foundation in Westfalen. St. Maria zur Wiese is one of the most beautiful late Gothic hall churches in the whole of Germany and inside St. Maria zur Höhe you can admire a Gothic disc cross, the only one of its kind in mainland Europe.
The historic Soest Wallmauer is the only walkable and tree-covered fortification in Europe besides the one in Lucca, Italy. And a visit to St. Patrokli - also known as the "Tower of Westfalen" - is not only worthwhile at Christmas time, when the Westphalian nativity scene is set up.
