Wenneplatz on Königsstraße, in the center of Wenholthausen
You can find information about Wenholthausen here.
Start your walk along the themed trail at the Wenneplatz parking lot in the center of Wenholthausen.
Start your 1200m long walk at the Wenneplatz. Here you will find a large overview board with information about the Wennepfad. Cross the Wenne bridge and the Mühlengraben, above which the first information board provides information about the operation of old water mills. The Wennepfad now leads you left into Passelweg past the Wenneauen meadows to the old Pumpenhaus. Turn left here and the path leads you directly along the Wenne with its rapids and Wennestrand beach. At the end of the path, turn right and walk uphill through a beautiful meadow orchard, past the treading pool to the last stop, the former Hammergraben. Take the same route back to return to the starting point.Along the themed trail, a total of 12 boards provide extensive information on the flora and fauna along and in the Wenne, on the use of the Wenne for people, but also on the Wennebahn, the railroad line in the Wennetal. The themed trail is equipped with numerous benches and stations where children in particular can discover a lot.
A rescue point system has been installed in the Hochsauerland district. Rescue points can be found on the information boards at junctions and on the hiking signs.
You can also visit the playground and game reserve on the Eibel (above the Wenneplatz) or the Esmecke-Stausee reservoir (towards Berge, left up to Zum Eimberg). Afterwards, we recommend stopping off at one of the many restaurants in Wenholthausen.
Wenholthausen can be reached by bus line 367. Bus travel is free for guests with a valid Schmallenberg Sauerland Card.
