This flour mill, which has existed for more than 600 years and has been family-owned for over 200 years, was still in operation until 1983 and has been preserved with all its mechanical equipment. Our little café in the historic water mill now serves as a registry office room. The mill can only be visited from the outside.
The bakery and mill were in full operation until 1983. After that, the water wheel and grinding mills were only used for private purposes. In 1989, the daughter and son-in-law of the last miller, Otto Jagemann, opened a completely new chapter in the history of the mill with a lot of work, some unconventional technical solutions and a great deal of capital expenditure. Since then, the mill has been generating electricity that is fed into the RWE grid. However, the old grinding mills are still intact and the old technology can be put into operation with just a few simple steps. One of the two grinding gears then runs as it did in the old days. The other is open and offers a view of its stone interior. There is also a modern roller mill, a point peeling machine and a self-made sack elevator. In mid-1995, the last step taken by the enterprising miller family was to set up a café, which is no longer in operation and now serves as a registry office.
