Church in Dreislar
Ölfestraße 3
59964 Medebach
As it was located close to the Ölfe stream, which caused water damage, the current church was built on a higher site in 1864. In 1931/2, a transept and a choir were added. The quarry stone church in neo-Gothic style is a listed building and
the high altarpiece shows the stigmatization of St. Francis. Several statues of saints, including a Gothic figure of St. Elizabeth and the unique barite cross, adorn the church interior. One of the stained glass windows depicts the martyr Sebastian, the patron saint of Dreislar, who was pierced by arrows. Another window shows the patron saint of miners, St. Barbara, and
the Dreislar Catholic parish holds regular services in the church.
