History of the parish church:
On May 16, 1900, on the feast of St. John of Nepomuk, patron saint of the village of Düdinghausen, the foundation stone of the new church was laid. The old church was demolished, its stones forming the current foundations.
Apart from minor improvements, the new church remained in its "original state" until 1960. In the fall of 1960, the church was covered with a waterproof exterior plaster, the "Munich roughcast". Most of the inhabitants liked the new look of the church much better than the dark-looking brick building.
Various changes were also made to the interior during the 1960s. In keeping with contemporary tastes, the neo-Gothic-style wall and vault paintings were painted over, the side altars and communion rail were removed and the tabernacle, ambo and candlesticks were added in a modern style. In recent years, some of these "sins" of the 1960s have gradually been reversed, to the delight of the Düdinghausen parishioners.
The Düdinghausen Catholic parish holds regular services in the church.
