Before the present church, a parish church from the Romanesque period, which was built between 1100 and 1200, stood on the same site. However, it had to be closed in 1835 due to the risk of collapse and was demolished in 1846. Today's neo-Gothic parish church is a listed building and was consecrated in 1852. The single-nave stone building was designed by architect Friedrich Heinrich Kronenberg. The sculptor R. Most from Cologne created the high altar and the two altars in 1885.
