The dam wall, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012, is also impressive. It is also the only dam in the Sauerland that can be crossed by car.
With its excellent water quality and various lidos, Diemelsee is a bathing lake that leaves nothing to be desired. The "Diemelsee family and adventure pool" and the "Vasbeck outdoor pool" also welcome all bathing enthusiasts.
Anglers will find their fishing paradise at Diemelsee with a large variety of fish and long, natural shores.
There are many excursion destinations and sights to discover in Diemelsee. For example, you can learn exciting things underground in the "Grube Christiane" visitor mine and the adjoining interactive information center about the hard working day of the miners, the formation of iron ore and its extraction. Nature can be seen, touched and experienced interactively in the "Visionarium Diemelsee".
The former Benedictine abbey "Flechtdorf Monastery" is historically significant and a special event location. With a bit of playful finesse and lots of fun, young and old can hole the balls at the "Golfpark Diemelsee" adventure golf course.
If you don't want to relax on the lakeshore, you can enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings by bike on the many well-signposted cycle and hiking trails.
