The dinosaur discovery site in Brilon Nehden is world-famous and a geological monument. This is where palaeontologists found the bones of Iguanodon in 1978.

In Nehden, bones of the Iguanodon (toothed iguana) were found in a nearby quarry in 1978. A copy of the dinosaur is on display in the town museum in Brilon; the original can be seen in the Landesmuseum in Münster.
