Disselmersch observation hut in the Lippeaue

Here, in the middle of the Lippeaue to the west of Lippborg, you can experience the dynamics of a floodplain live. The wide grassland areas and bodies of water are completely flooded during high water. When the water level drops, the still waters and damp depressions remain a magnet for numerous bird species. During the migration periods from March to May and August to October, there is a lot going on here. Ducks and geese meet up with various species of waders. Lapwings and shovelers can be seen mating in spring. Since 2010, a pair of white storks have been breeding on a mast close to the observation hut. The partners greet each other at the Horst with loud clattering. The tree frogs can also be heard here on warm summer nights.
