The cellar was built in 1853 to cool beer brewed in Reiste. However, it was no longer used for this purpose after 22 years in 1875 and stood empty. But during World War II it was used as an air raid shelter and eventually the historic vaulted cellar found its way into the hands of the Reiste tourist office, which is responsible for its maintenance. It is possible to visit the historic cellar and we highly recommend it. It offers the opportunity to cool off a little, not only on hot summer days, and can be visited on request from the SGV, Reiste section.
