Church quarry - entangled sandstones
The quarry is one of four quarries on the "Düdinghausen Geological Trail" and a window into the history of the earth. Here you can find out what interlocking stratification is. If you look closely at the rock, you can recognize the typical winding structures in the sandstones of the Upper Devonian period.
You will find the church quarry above the village of Düdinghausen in the direction of Usseln. You can reach the quarry on foot after approx. 800 m from the parking lot on the L854. Alternatively from the village center via a steep path uphill.
