RAuszeit: Nature and adventure education

Nina Rudolph, a special education teacher, has been offering a special kind of leisure activity for families and interested adults without children in Kierspe since March 2023.

On Mondays and Fridays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., people who register can spend an hour meeting tame chickens, sheep, squirrels, quails, canaries and Bernese mountain dogs, learning interesting facts and enjoying part of the Kerspe Valley water and nature reserve. In the second hour, there are different KreAktiv activities, such as a themed walk through the forest with CoCo the bottle lamb and the Bernese, making bread on a stick around the campfire, creating things from natural materials and much more.

The RAuszeit strategy of giving the children more and more responsibility is also interesting. "At the beginning, everyone receives a bonus card. If this is full after four booked hours, we invite the families to a campfire barbecue after the next booked activity. Afterwards, the children are given the opportunity to take an "expert" exam. If they pass, the price is reduced and the children can take on an animal sponsorship and visit the animals alone with their parents and take advantage of our offers. As our RAuszeit experts, they receive a bag with food, creActive materials, magnifying glasses and/or binoculars to borrow with every booking, which they can then use with an adult caregiver with their own time management on that day. However, they should also come once a month and help with cleaning or caring for the animals to gain an insight into the care responsibilities as a keeper. ", says Nina Rudolph.
