Since 2000, the Sauerland distillery in the village of Kallenhardt has been producing the finest brandies, spirits and liqueurs. Since 2007, a premium whisky has also been produced, the single malt whisky "Thousand Mountains Mc Raven". With the move to a larger building, the purchase of a larger distillery and the associated reopening on April 23, 2016, we opened another chapter in the success story of the art of distilling in Kallenhardt.

The idea of producing distillates of the highest quality ourselves was born out of pure passion. Since this idea, we have been constantly striving to perfect the quality of our products.
This is not only due to our passion for the art of distilling, but also to the selection of natural, mostly regional ingredients that determine the unmistakable taste of our brandies, spirits and liqueurs
.
We use groundwater for production, which is extracted from the 400 million year old Devonian rock at a depth of 188 meters. As a family business, everyone involved contributes their passion and personal enthusiasm to creating an all-round harmonious product, and
to ensure the quality of our product, "automation" through machines is out of place. Distilling the real heart out of the mash, the exact separation between pre-run and mid-run, mid-run and post-run - no machine in the world can do this without compromising quality,
which is why manual work is a cornerstone of our philosophy. However, manual work does not end with product manufacture, but is also taken into account in the subsequent work processes. It is also bottled, labeled and sealed by hand. This makes every single bottle unique, produced by people with a passion for the product - and not by machines.
Our philosophy therefore combines selected, regional ingredients wherever possible, water from our own well, passion and craftsmanship. Thanks to these cornerstones, we produce a unique, all-natural product without additives.
Otmar Alt, born in Wernigerode in 1940, is one of the most important contemporary artists in Germany. His works are characterized by intense colors and clearly defined shapes and contours
, but Otmar Alt is not only a gifted artist, but also a long-time friend of the house, who has always accompanied us and the development of the distillery.
thanks to him, the raven became our trademark. many of his works in our rooms bear witness to his creative power - convince yourself of his creativity!
