It is not certain whether a church already existed in the village in the Middle Ages. There is no documentary record of this. There is no record of the origins of the first church from 1667, which stood on the site of the current building. A new building was started in 1869 and consecrated in June 1871. The chapel soon proved to be too small and the neo-Gothic hall church was extended in 1900 and consecrated in 1905. In 1956, a massive 24-meter-high church tower was erected.
