Its origins date back to the time of Christianization (around 900 AD). The Grafschaft monastery erected the first wayside shrine here. In the 1920s, the SGV Siedlinghausen branch wanted to erect a new wayside shrine. However, the budget earmarked for this fell victim to inflation in 1923.
A new wayside shrine was inaugurated in 1927. The SGV Siedlinghausen section has been looking after this place ever since.
