Salt - mysterious, versatile & indispensable
The Westfalen Salt Worlds Adventure Museum takes you on a journey of discovery that traces the history of white gold. Brine, from which people have been extracting salt for centuries, comes to light in Bad Sassendorf and along the Hellweg. Everyone knows the conventional sodium chloride, but it holds many secrets. The inconspicuous crystal is behind a surprising number of phenomena and things.
An adventure museum for all the senses
At Westfalen Salzwelten, visitors can experience salt with all their senses and discover unexpected facets of the precious crystal. In addition to the formation of salt, its effects on the body, chemical experiments and the latest applications of brine and peat, the focus is on the history of salt production. By interacting and trying things out for themselves, all visitors playfully experience their own personal "salt" adventure in the adventure museum.
Special exhibitions
In addition to the interactive permanent exhibition, the Westfalen Salt Worlds present changing special exhibitions every year and inspire museum fans of all ages with a wide variety of event formats. Whether salt boiling at the boiling pan, fragrant soaps and fire-breathing volcanoes for children's birthday parties or a classic museum tour, the adventure museum offers groups and individual visitors an attractive program.
