Information

Directions

Start centrally in Eslohe on Hauptstraße, turn into Papestraße and walk past the Pampel (statue of an Eslohe original) and the parish church through Kupferstraße above the Kurpark. Pass the tourist information office at the Kurhaus and you will reach Homertstraße. Continue left along the road, past the St. Isidor Chapel to Forellenhof Poggel. Cross the road here and walk left for a short distance along the SauerlandRadring, then turn right, following the X22 hiking sign (or the Sauerland-Höhenflug Höhenflug feeder trail sign, H on a black background). Turn right at the next junction and then right again at another junction. Follow the path uphill, with a wonderful view of the village of Sallinghausen, until you reach the highest point, the so-called Windknochen. Once you have reached the highest point, walk downhill and follow the yellow H hiking sign for the Sauerland-Höhenflug. The Höhenflug leads you through a Buchenwald forest to the Lauschgeist, a large sculpture where you can listen to the sounds of the forest or possibly the sounds of the so-called Erdenklangstraße (a hedge that emits sounds via motion detectors) opposite. Continue along the Sauerland-Höhenflug past the Habbecke estate. First turn right and then left (golden G hiking sign), you are now on the Wenholthausen Gold Village Route. Walk below the game reserve to the playground on the Eibel. Pass the Schützenhalle and continue steeply downhill to your destination. In Wenholthausen you will find a variety of nice places to stop for refreshments. You can return by bus no. 367 from "Wenholthausen Friedhof" to "Eslohe Hauptstraße".Click here for timetable information
