Olsberg Kneipp hiking trail - hiking, water, well-being
Health is a top priority in the recognized Kneipp spa town of Olsberg in the Sauerland. The 40-kilometre "Quality Trail Hikeable Germany" around the town center features 6 natural Kneipp treading points. Ideal for cooling down hot soles and letting your mind wander.
Kneipp therapy is based on 5 health pillars: Water applications, exercise, relaxation, nutrition and medicinal herbs. With a focus on exercise and water treatments, the Kneipp path gets your health moving. The best way to try out the stork walk and arm watering is together with specially trained Kneipp path animators. With a watering can and drinking cup, head to the idyllic treading areas in the forest.
The award from the German Hiking Association has just been renewed once again. The Kneipp Trail has once again been certified as having excellent hiking quality, with a high proportion of natural paths, panoramas, natural and cultural attractions
The starting point of the Kneipp HikingTrail is at the "Rote Brücke", a striking railroad bridge above the district of Gierskopp, along the "Roter Weg" road (you can of course also start from Olsberg Touristik, Ruhrstraße 32, via an access path to the Kneipp HikingTrail). From the "Rote Brücke", the trail first leads uphill for a short distance. Then keep left and follow a picturesque meadow path for about 500 meters. The path then becomes steeper and leads you uphill. The barefoot path then takes you to the pedal point "am Papendiek". Following the teachings of Pastor Kneipp, it is recommended that you take off your shoes and walk barefoot for a while to experience nature more intensively. Treading water afterwards refreshes and strengthens the immune system The trail continues around the Forstenberg to the Eisenberg. At the Maxstollen, numerous information boards offer interesting insights into Olsberg's mining history. The area around the Maxstollen invites you to linger and the fresh spring on site is perfect for a refreshing Kneipp-style arm soak. From there, the route continues up to the Langerberg, where an adventure trail has been set up for several years. This trail offers additional opportunities to enjoy nature and learn more about the surrounding area. The path now leads downhill again to the Ruhrauen. The path then leads over the new bridge below the old railroad bridge onto the road towards Schellenstein Castle. The route now continues to the district of Gevelinghausen. The castle there is just as worth seeing as the old mill, which can be visited by appointment. The route now continues along the Elpe river to the Elpe watering hole, where you can once again enjoy a refreshing dip. Continue via the district of Wiggeringhausen up to the Ohlenkopf. A longer stretch now follows until you reach the pedal point "am Voßbach". Once again, it is time to "tread water" according to Sebastian Kneipp. The route now heads in the direction of Olsberg. The route leads along the "an der Ruhr" treading area to the Hasley hut. From there, an ascent follows along the "cliff path" to the summit of Olsberg. After a special view, the descent begins. Past the forest altar - downhill until you see a sign for the Kneipp hiking trail on the right. The trail now leads steeply downhill through a former pine forest to a meadow path. Back on the forest path, above a large horse stable, you return to the starting point - the "Rote Brücke" - via the "An der Gierskopp" pedal point. The Kneipp Trail is of course not a one-day hike. There are 4 great stages to experience the trail. Information on the stages is available from Olsberg Touristik. An "access route to the Kneipp Trail" is well marked from Olsberg Touristik, Ruhrstraße 32. Free parking is available here.
Wear sturdy shoes and hike the Kneipp trail in 4 stages. Further information www.tourismus-brilon-olsberg.de
