Grevenbrück sports field
Grevenbrück sports field

We start at the Grevenbrück sports field (An der Habuche; parking lot), where the panoramic loop begins. A rustic path winds its way down to Germaniahütte. Cross the B236 at the pedestrian lights and continue over the railroad tracks and the "blue" Lenne bridge to Theten village square, where there is a miniature version of the village chapel. Here, benches invite you to take a break. Now turn right along the SauerlandRadring towards Maumke. After a few hundred meters, you reach the "Lennestrand" sculpture park. The wooden bathers have been standing here since 2015, carved out of individual logs by sculptor Roger Löcherbach.Shortly before the sewage treatment plant in Maumke, we leave the cycle path to the right and cross the Lenne and the railroad tracks again. Directly at the entrance to Maumke, cross the main road at the crosswalk and continue straight ahead into Agathastrasse, which you follow right into the village. Passing St. Agatha's Church, turn right into the street "Am Kamp" and shortly afterwards turn right again up Bachstraße.Just after the last house on the left, the hiking signs point to a narrow path to the left. With wonderful views of the village of Maumke, we hike steeply uphill to the right around the Vogelstange. At the next signpost, we turn left and follow the path uphill past the "Soviet Cemetery of Honor", which was established in 1945 and commemorates 98 Soviet citizens who died in the turmoil of war.Where the TSG hut "Auf'm Saal" comes into view, the Maumke circular trail turns right. The path continues to climb and we reach the highest point of the tour - rewarded with fantastic panoramic views of the Lenne valley. Incidentally, the wood for the Grevenbrück pile was felled up here a few years ago. Continue straight ahead and downhill again to the crossroads where we meet the certified quality hiking trail "Veischede Sonnenpfad" ("V", "B") and hiking trail A24. A short, steep section leads up the Hohe Schlade, from there it's almost all downhill. We finally cross the connecting road between Maumke and Bonzelerhammer and about 1 km further on the road between Maumke and Bonzel. In between, there are always wonderful panoramic views of the Lenne valley and Meggen with its pyramids. We follow the white circle (or A24) past the Kreuzberg chapel until we reach a beautiful meadow landscape with a bench. We follow the markings of the white circle to the right across the meadow into a shady deciduous forest. The path through the forest leads us back to the starting point "Grevenbrück sports field". Our tip: start early in the morning. Then you have the SauerlandRadring cycle path almost to yourself and can enjoy the Lenne and its meadows undisturbed.
