Wenden hut
Wenden hut
Nature and technology meet in the Wendener Land, merging into an inseparable couple at the Wendener Hütte. Nature provided the resources for our flourishing economy - the use of resources was the driving force behind technical innovations.
The Wenden Ironworks is one of the oldest surviving blast furnaces in Germany. Founded in 1728, the ironworks was able to hold its own until the 19th century, but lost its importance with the construction of the Ruhr-Sieg line in 1861 and the associated change in traffic flows. It embarked on its last ironworks journey in 1866.
A visit to the Wandener Hütte after or before the circular route should be obligatory and is definitely worthwhile.
At the end, you can treat yourself to hot and cold drinks and cakes in the Wenden hut café.
You can also book a guided story hike "Of carts, charcoal burners and churchgoers and other stories". Please contact the staff at the Wenden hut: www.wendener-huette.de
