Hotel Haus Wiesengrund

The start of a fantastic motorcycle weekend

The chrome gleams in the sun, freshly polished and ready to conquer the roads in the land of a thousand mountains. It's an invitation that Yvonne and Andreas are only too happy to accept. Motorcycle weather is on the cards and the couple already have the destination of their short vacation clearly in mind: the Sauerland! After all, the winding country roads and fascinating views around the Kahler Asten beckon. The anticipation of a relaxed motorcycle weekend is growing, especially as the hotel they have chosen also promises a lot.

Hotel Haus Wiesengrund in Braunshausen, an idyllic village right on the Hessian border near Hallenberg. When searching the internet, it literally clicked quickly. The hotel's lovingly designed and informative website at www.wiesengrund.net was an instant favorite and the room was booked shortly afterwards. The Knecht family runs the hotel with great passion and dedication. The four-star hotel offers 26 comfort rooms with balcony and five standard rooms, all equipped with Wi-Fi, a barrier-free entrance and elevator and the buffet and à la carte restaurant, whose chef focuses on regional products. The rustic Bierstube with winter garden, the café with terrace, the Biergarten and the bowling alley also invite you to linger. New is the beautifully furnished Wiesengrund SPA with swimming pool (4x8 meters, water temperature 29°), a Finnish old wood sauna, a herbal sauna, heat bench, experience shower, infrared heat cabin, fitness room, cosmetics and massage studio as well as sun terrace with feel-good loungers and plenty of parking spaces.

Regional products from the kitchen with a fresh non-alcoholic Veltins

So it's no wonder that Yvonne and Andreas can hardly wait for their motorcycle weekend. The short vacation begins with the journey. Kilometer by kilometer, bend by bend, out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life and into the soothing tranquillity of the Sauerland. Just in time for lunch, the couple arrive at Haus Wiesengrund, located in the heart of the village, and enjoy a warm welcome from the Knecht family, which is immediately followed by a short excursion into the hotel kitchen. The delicious smells of freshly prepared food alone make Yvonne and Andreas' mouths water. The juicy meat for the tasty burger and the steak from the region sizzle promisingly in the pan. It's time for a hearty meal with a fresh non-alcoholic Veltins on the terrace. After all, we have a tour to go on later.

Before setting off, Yvonne and Andreas find out about the many fascinating tours around Braunshausen at reception. The Sauerland Tourism road book is a great help, as it provides all the essential information in a compact and user-friendly format. Those who prefer the digital version can also access many of the tours conveniently on their cell phone using the Sauerland app. For Yvonne and Andreas, the Grenzland tour with the hotel owner and four other motorcycle friends is on the agenda. This 163-kilometre tour leads along winding sections and small, well-maintained roads across the Hessian state border through the Medebach Bay to the Edersee. Tip: A detour to the Edersee with Waldeck Castle is definitely worthwhile. The tour also touches Frankenberg in Hesse and leads through small villages back into the Sauerland to Hallenberg. The route then crosses the border again into Wittgensteiner Land to Bad Berleburg with its impressive castle and from there back up to Neuastenberg, past the Postwiese ski area via Züschen and north past Hallenberg to Medebach.

Guests can test the latest BMW motorcycles extensively at the BMW Testride Center.

A detour to the "BMW Testride Center" at Haus Wiesengrund

First, however, a short detour to the "BMW Testride Center" at Haus Wiesengrund is on the agenda. Here, the latest BMW motorcycles can be rented and extensively tested. An absolutely unique selling point and a perfect start to the tour for motorcycle fans. However, the motorcycle trip cannot start without the "Loud is out" sticker from Sauerland Tourism. This campaign is intended to promote considerate interaction between guests, locals and all road users. Specifically, the aim is to reduce noise pollution in towns and villages as well as in noise-sensitive locations through careful driving. High-speed driving, for example, should be avoided. It goes without saying that Yvonne and Andreas immediately put the sticker on their bike and set an example.

Spiced up with a stop or two, for example at the chapel above Braunshausen with a view of Hessen, they set off. Yvonne and Andreas enjoy a fantastic tour that they will not soon forget. Topped off with a delicious dinner of fresh Veltins in the evening sun at Haus Wiesengrund. One thing is clear for the couple: their next motorcycle weekend will also take them to the beautiful Sauerland.
