Winter light in the Sauerland-Wanderdorf hiking villages
Capture magical moments in the photo competition and win attractive prizes
When the days get shorter and the light softer, the Sauerland is transformed into a winter wonderland. Mist lies silently over the hills, the low sun bathes meadows and forests in a golden light and in the evening, warm lights glow behind the windows of half-timbered houses. With a photo competition under the motto "Winter light in the Sauerland-Wanderdorf villages", in line with the marketing campaign of the same name, Germany's largest "Quality Region Wanderbares Deutschland" is calling for people to capture precisely these moments.
Outdoors in the vast nature or indoors in cozy retreats, whether sparkling ice crystals in the early morning, the play of colors of a sunset or the warm glow of a lamp in the living room - pictures and videos are sought that show winter in all its facets. Because winter in the Sauerland is more than just snow and cold - it's the special lighting moods that make this time of year so unique. Sabine Risse, Hiking Theme Manager at Sauerland Tourism, knows this too: "The Sauerland-Wanderdorf villages stand for unspoiled nature, living tradition and sustainable tourism. This competition is not only intended to promote creativity, but also to put the spotlight on the beauty of the region during the winter season."
And it was precisely moments like these that Sauerland landscape photographer Klaus-Peter Kappe captured last winter in a project lasting several months, capturing the different light moods with their special characteristics in pictures. These are now online at www.sauerland-winterlicht.de with emotional texts that accurately reflect the unique atmosphere and provide inspiration for hikers looking for unforgettable moments in the Sauerland-Wanderdorf villages.
By the way, taking part in the photo competition that has now been launched is very easy: photos and videos can be posted on Instagram using the hashtag #MeinWinterlicht (#MyWinterlight) and thus count as an entry in the photo competition. Every entry is automatically entered into a prize draw. The main prize is a place in an exclusive photo workshop by Klaus-Peter Kappe. This workshop not only offers exciting insights into the art of photography, but also the opportunity to discover the breathtaking Sauerland landscape with new eyes. "Winter in the Sauerland is diverse, quiet and powerful at the same time. It invites you to pause and focus on the essentials - and to capture exactly that with your camera," continues Risse.
Participation is possible until Friday, February 14, 2025. The winners will then be drawn and contacted via Instagram. All information about the photo competition can be found at www.sauerland-winterlicht.de.
