About the friendship between Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich
Edith Piaf (1915-1963) and Marlene Dietrich (1901-1992), two goddesses in the Olympus of chanson who could hardly be more different, met in New York in 1948 and became friends away from the press and public eye.
Edith Piaf spent her childhood in a brothel in Normandy and on the streets of Paris, whereas Marlene Dietrich came from a Prussian middle-class background, attended boarding school in Weimar and trained as a concert violinist.
The "sparrow of Paris" and the "blue angel" - two capricious divas, linked by outstanding artistic successes and private scandals.
It is documented that Marlene gave Piaf a valuable gold cross. She wore it at her first wedding in 1952, where Marlene was maid of honor, and at her legendary comeback at the Olympia in Paris on December 30, 1960. What else it is all about and many other secrets are revealed in "Sparrow and Angel". Parade roles for two thoroughbred actresses!
World hits such as "La vie en rose", "Je ne regrette rien" or "Frag nicht, warum ich gehe" and "I wish you love" take us back to an era of classic chanson full of elegance, passion and melancholy.
