Artist: Maren Köster (Cologne)
When thinking about this sculpture, Maren Köster assumed that brushes are particularly suitable for massaging large cattle. Different degrees of hardness benefit different parts of the body: soft natural brushes for the head and mouth, medium natural brushes for the voluminous cow's body and synthetic brushes for the buttocks.

Location: at Wienhagen Tower

As part of the Volme Valley scrubbing posts project, 20 artistically designed scrubbing posts are being erected in the four municipalities that have joined together to form the Oben an der Volme region. They are intended to draw attention to special features in the Volme Valley, serve as landmarks or invite reflection. The X 20 hiking trail, which connects Schalksmühle, Halver, Kierspe and Meinerzhagen over a length of 20 kilometers, serves as a bracket.

The initiator and sponsor of the project is the VAKT art association from Halver. The NRW Ministry for Regional Identity, Communities and Local Government, Building and Gender Equality has sponsored the project. Minister Ina Scharrenbach personally delivered the funding notification to Halver on the Saturday before Christmas 2019

. Farmers used to place them in the Weide so that cattle could rub against them. In the Volme Valley, the posts are also intended to figuratively point out points of friction. They are intended to draw attention to special places, stimulate discussion or help to rediscover home.
Rubbing against the sculpture or social conflicts. Friction creates tension and could also help to resolve conflicts.
