The Glörtalsperre is open to visitors for swimming. A spacious bathing area with a kiosk and DLRG station on the northern shore attracts visitors to the dam. In principle, all visitors are free to use the bathing area. The time of use is not limited. Bathing is at your own risk. From May to August, the DRLG lifeguard service is manned at weekends.
There is also a lovely playground for children to climb, swing and slide. For all sports enthusiasts, there are various exercise machines to train on.
There is a 3-kilometre circular trail around the Glörtalsperre, mostly at ground level, mostly gravelled or with a firm forest floor. Various themed information boards provide interesting information about the flora and fauna along the circular trail. In between, forest sofas and benches offer places to rest and beautiful views of the dam.
The youth hostel, which can be rented by groups for a stay, is also located at the Glörtalsperre. The youth hostel is an adfc Bett+Bike certified accommodation.
At the front of the dam, close to the dam wall, is the Glörtal House with its lovely outdoor restaurant, which invites you to linger. There is also a small snack bar below, which is also popular with bikers.
The Glörfeld campsite, which also has pitches for visitors, is around 2 kilometers away.
