A little history:
Glindfeld Monastery, built in 1298, was initially home to the Augustinian nuns from Küstelberg, who lived there until 1499. The monastery was then transferred to the Kreuzherren-Stift, whose monks led the monastery to its economic and cultural heyday and thus had an outstanding influence on the life of the entire region around Medebach, especially during the conflicts with Protestant Waldeck in the Thirty Years' War. The monastery was dissolved in 1804, the church demolished and the estate sold.
Today, the entire complex is privately owned. About once a month, classical music events are presented by the Kulturring Medebach. On the last weekend in October, the November Dreams get you in the mood for winter and the Christmas season with a variety of exhibitors of arts and crafts and culinary delights.
