On the grounds of the Heesfelder Mühle you will find a wide range of leisure activities. In addition to wonderful impressions of nature and environmental education events for young and old, you can visit the historic buildings and are invited to cultural events and culinary delights.

The Center for Nature Conservation and Cultural Landscape Management of the Heesfelder Mühle e.V. association was founded here in the early 1990s. At the heart of the association's work is the watermill of the same name. It was lovingly restored in two years of painstaking work from 1991 to 1993 with a great deal of personal effort and financial support from the NRW Foundation. In the meantime, several business branches have grown out of the association.

The outside of the building can be viewed at any time, the inside on request.

Environmental education events and cultural events such as concerts, readings and discussions take place in the upper part of the building. Dates can be found here: https://www.heesfelderm-muehle.de/termine

Not far from the Heesfelder Mühle building complex is a (scattered) fruit variety garden managed by the association. Information boards provide visitors with all kinds of interesting facts about the orchard and a forest sofa invites them to take a relaxing break.

Between 1994 and 1997, the association was also able to restore the listed Heesfelder Mühle school, which was built by Halveran farmers for their children in 1782. The former classroom now serves as a branch office of the registry office of the town of Halver. A collection of historical agricultural and craft tools forms the museum setting. Guided tours for groups are also offered by appointment.

The offices of Heesfelder Mühle e.V. are located in the adjoining rooms. The association offers advice, planning and implementation of biotope design and maintenance measures, in particular for the protection of orchard meadows. As part of the EU-funded Naturerlebnis Oben an der Volme project, nature experience and environmental education events throughout the Volme region are also coordinated here.

The reservoir is the newest building on the association's premises. The Sound Bakery, an event agency with a music label, is located in the upper part. Among other things, the Sound Bäckerei organizes regular major events on the mill site. These include the cherry blossom festival on May 1st, MusikFever, the pumpkin market on October 3rd and the artisan Christmas market on the first weekend of Advent. Information at: https://www.sound-baeckerei.de/termine/

The former storage room can be rented for private events via the Sound Bakery. It offers space for 30-80 people in addition to a kitchen for self-use.

After a hike on the nearby circular hiking trails A11 + A12, which lead through the adjacent forest, Café Heimatliebe invites you to enjoy a delicious coffee break or a tarte flambée and wine. It is located in the lower part of the granary. You can find the opening hours here!
