The original Kahr house stood in the corner of the tower until 1996, but it was in danger of falling into disrepair, so the Störmede Traditionsverein demolished the house and rebuilt it on Steinweg. Most of the old building materials could be reused.
The Heimathaus is now the clubhouse of the Traditionsverein and a museum, and can be visited by arrangement with the board of the Traditionsverein on the first Sunday of every month. The house contains a wide variety of exhibits and exhibitions on subjects such as crafts, agriculture and the household.
On Sundays when it is open, the Heimathaus is also open for coffee and cake. Cakes and coffee are offered there.
