The route of the 63 km long certified Diemelsteig quality hiking trail leads leisurely along its entire length through the green valleys and over the striking mountain ranges of the Diemelsee Nature Park in the eastern Sauerland. With 1700 meters of ascent and descent, it is one of the moderately difficult hiking trails in Germany. The trail opens up the entire region around Diemelsee, as well as the gentle low mountain range landscape to the south of it with its constant alternation of forests, meadows and fields. The trail can be accessed from all villages along the route. The Diemelsteig trail is well signposted. The "Path of Silence", a particularly quiet section of the Diemelsteig trail, awaits you between Flechtdorf and Schweinsbühl. You hike on narrow and rocky paths in sections.
Sturdy footwear is required.
