The centuries-old Marian pilgrimage site with its late medieval image of grace, an expressive Pieta, gave this area and the old parish its name early on. Those who leave the main road and include a visit to the church of "Unser lieben Frauen auf dem Berge" in their schedule will be strangely rewarded in many ways.
While the buttressed, sturdy post-Gothic building, which seems to have grown out of the ground, is not particularly impressive on the outside due to its simplicity, those who enter will be left speechless by the unexpected sight inside the church.
The Sauerland artist family Sasse (from Attendorn) gave the church hall the Baroque splendor and expression that fully corresponds to the dignity and demands of a pilgrimage church, the replica of the heavenly Jerusalem, through the spiritual guidance of the then pastor Paulus Leyemann (1693-1745).
The poor once had access here. Here he looked into an anticipated heaven, which ultimately promised and guaranteed him justice and divine riches.
Take the Hilchenbacher Straße in the direction of Brachthausen and turn onto Kohlhagenweg. Follow this road to the end.
