The estate was built for employees of the Phoenix Aktiengesellschaft für Bergbau und Hüttenbetrieb in the years 1904-1913.
It has a special significance in the local economic and social history and the urban development of the Nachrodt district.
Origin:
The settlement was built without a recognizable overall urban planning concept and grew over the years. Attention was only paid to the existing boundaries and was based on the parcel boundaries of the time. This explains the parallel network of paths. The first houses were built along today's Schillerstrasse and Niemöllerstrasse in 1904. Goethestraße and, most recently, Ebertstraße and Wiblingwerde Straße followed.
The urban layout is reminiscent of the garden city-style housing estates that were frequently built at the time, particularly in the Ruhrgebiet: With curved and slightly bent streets and a square formation at the end of Ebertstrasse.
The estate has been a listed building since 1988.
The Langenstück factory estate is freely accessible from the outside.
Coming from the A 46 Hagen - Hemer in the direction of Altena, turn right onto Ehrenmalstraße after the Lennebrücke bridge. After 1 km turn right into Niemöllertraße.
