The island in the Lippe tells many stories
In the middle of Lippstadt's city center, the Lippe River meanders around a small island that has undergone many changes over the centuries. Tivoli Island, named after the amusement park in Copenhagen, is now a popular excursion destination for Lippstadt locals and tourists in Westfalen.

From trade route to green oasis
In the Middle Ages, a historically important trade route ran across the island. It later served as the location for the castle mill. Towards 1870, at the end of the 19th century, the hotel owner H. Bührnheim bought the property and opened a restaurant. Today's building, with its oriel turrets and half-timbered elements, almost looks like a castle in the idyllic park and is a listed building.

Flora and fauna in Lippstadt
The island is a small natural paradise in the middle of the city. Following extensive flood protection measures, the western part of the island, the Lippe-Bug, is now a popular place to relax and enjoy nature. Numerous plant species can be found here, providing a valuable habitat for birds and insects. Nature is in full bloom, especially in spring and summer.
Discover Tivoli Island on a walk with a view of the Lippe. Enjoy the peace and quiet and nature and leave everyday life behind you.
