The Lösse family's Jungferngut - tradition and modernity
If you turn through the large, inconspicuous gate in the middle of the small village of Garbeck onto the Jungferngut, you will hardly believe your eyes. Thick, old trees shade the large courtyard, which is lined with former farm buildings and from which an avenue leads towards Balve.
The manor house, whose foundation walls were probably built in the middle of the 13th century, dominates the courtyard. The Lösse family, who are now the 14th generation to manage the estate, have lived in Garbeck since 1401. Adelheid and Bernward Lösse, both qualified agricultural engineers, live on the farm today with their three children and continue to run the family business with a great love of tradition.
300 hectares of forest and more than 100 tree species belong to the forestry business, which has been managed sustainably and naturally for over 200 years. With old digging sites and coal piles, a quarry, a fireplace and wood hut, wood sculptures, high seats and viewpoints, the Jungferngut offers an eventful forest that has a lot to offer hikers and visitor groups.
During the hunting season, the family also offers game meat for sale. If you would like to try the wild boar sausage first, you can taste it for yourself at the pre-Christmas farm market at the barbecue hut (Text: Familie Lösse).
Our offer includes:
- Wild boar and venison (with advance order)
- Wooden shop - "Useful and useless things made of wood"
- Christmas trees and green cuttings
- Firewood
We also offer seminars and guided forest tours. You can also celebrate with us.
