On the 4th stage of the Bestwig Panorama Trail, you will pass the idyllic Mariengrotte grotto if you follow the Alfert crossroads, the Kutschenweg and the Nuttlar Way of the Cross. After passing the Mariengrotte, you walk to the settlement of Dümel.

Originally, this was located in the middle of the forest after the Schlehborntal valley until all the trees around the grotto were brought down by hurricane Kyrill in January 2007. Fortunately, the Mariengrotte itself was spared.

The Mariengrotte can only be reached on foot. The nearest bus stops are "Nuttlar, Kirche" (1 km) or "Nuttlar, Am Dümel" (500 m).

From Nuttlar to the Steinbergruine Ostwig. On the way back, take a detour past the Mariengrotte grotto on the Dümel back to the starting point.
