In the middle of the village of Oberhundem, you will find the listed pastorate dating back to 1685, the lovingly restored heart of which has housed the Sauerland's only embroidery museum since 1981. The historic rooms, in which a fireplace provides warmth in winter, form a charming contrast to the fine hand embroidery with their rustic brickwork

: paraments, Wissen, wafer-thin shadow embroidery... Anyone who takes a closer look and wants to learn a little about these and many other techniques will recognize the art and patience of this ancient craft. During a guided tour, the visitor learns one or two stories behind the embroidery, such as that of the small, hidden message of a girl in her sampler from 1780, embroidered with her own hair. It is important to us to preserve and pass on this centuries-old art and the knowledge of the craft.
