The art-historically significant building was erected from 1906 onwards according to designs by architects Robert Meißner and Adolf Liborius (Magdeburg), which were reworked by Iserlohn city planning officer Hermann Falkenroth (1854-1933).

In 1969, following the construction of the new Gartenbad am Tyrol, the Stadtbad was closed down and fell into disrepair. Large parts of the building were demolished in 1986.
However, valuable elements of the old building - such as the self-contained Art Nouveau façade - were preserved through careful incorporation.

Today's Evangelische Seniorenwohnanlage was completed in 1988. The architect Hubert Ossenberg-Engels (Altena) combined new building elements with parts of the old Art Nouveau town baths.

The tower as the visual focal point and the west façade with the staircase inside are the relics of the former baths.
