The Sauerland-Waldroute connects the Sauerland hiking region from east to west: from Iserlohn to Marsberg. The award-winning quality trail leads over 240 kilometers through the "land of a thousand mountains". Ancient forests, glistening lakes and dark caves combine along the way to create a unique experience that can only be described as magically mystical.

Information about the rescue signs on the Sauerland-Waldroute
Most hiking trails run away from towns and settlements and every hiker has thought about what would happen if an emergency were to occur. How can I be found here? Where am I anyway? Can the emergency services reach me?
In an emergency, things have to happen quickly! That's why the Sauerland-Waldroute is equipped with so-called rescue signs throughout. The green and white stickers attached to the posts of the signposts have a number that you must give when making an emergency call. This means that the emergency services know exactly where you are and valuable time can be saved.

Special highlights along the way are the Möhnesee-Turm and the Lörmecke-Turm, also known as the landmarks of the Sauerland-Waldroute. From up here, the view stretches far across the land of a thousand mountains.

Public transit
The start of the Sauerland-Waldroute at Iserlohn hiking station is easy to reach by train. There are always opportunities to use public transport at the gates to the Waldroute along the way.
How to get there
Iserlohn:
Iserlohn can be reached via the A45, exit Iserlohn/Seilersee from there follow the local signs to Iserlohn city station.
Marsberg:
Marsberg can be reached via the A44, exit 36 Marsberg, from there continue on the B7 towards Marsberg Stadt.
Parking
Along the entire Waldroute, there are usually free parking spaces for hikers at all the gates to the Waldroute or in the villages where you can leave your car.
