The building was constructed in 1893, during the Prussian era, which began in 1816. In the last century, it was made structurally clear when someone had to go "to the office" to see the authorities. Hence the high entrance staircase at the town hall. The special feature is that the building was erected solely from the citizens' own funds, without state subsidies.
Today, the historic building houses the council chamber, which is used for council and committee meetings of the town of Geseke as well as for cultural events, and the wedding room of the town of Geseke. It also houses the offices of Geseke town council.
