Experiences around the "Piener Kopf"
The "Piener Kopf" hiking parking lot is the starting point for numerous hikes around the Versetalsperre dam. A beautiful circular tour begins here, which leads via Nierderholte, Gasmert, either on the ridges above the Versetalsperre or along the banks of the dam. The "Nümmert", a hilltop 585 m above sea level, is also a popular hiking destination, as the hiking trails cross numerous upland moors worthy of nature conservation. In spring, the "Herveler Bruch" south of the "Piener Kopf" should be visited. A protected natural monument since 1938, thousands of spring snowflakes cover the woodland with a white carpet. With its bell-shaped white flowers, the snowdrop, also known as the spring snowdrop, is one of the earliest flowering plants. Depending on the location and weather conditions, flowering can start as early as February.
