Neuenrade
Green in cities - that is quality of life. And there is plenty of both in Neuenrade. A harmonious combination of leisure, living and working makes this lively small town so attractive.
Neuenrade enjoys a scenic location in a flat valley, surrounded by forests and meadows. The Hönne, the river that gave its name to an entire region, rises here - the Hönnetal vacation region.
The Hönne town and its rural districts form a varied hiking backdrop with the Sauerland-Höhenflug long-distance hiking trail, exciting forest adventure trails, easy walks and challenging day hikes. The climb up the Quitmannsturm guarantees great views. Sightseeing flights also offer completely new insights and views of the land of a thousand mountains. Sports enthusiasts can explore the area by mountain biking in the forest or on a racing bike on a Bike Arena Sauerland tour. And if you prefer a more leisurely pace, you canstroll through the alleyways of Neuenrade's historic Altstadt in warm weather and enjoy a delicious scoop of ice cream or soak up the sunshine in the outdoor pool.
Well-known far beyond the town's borders is the traditional horse and stall market in March each year - affectionately known as the "Gertrüdchen". Today it is the region's first major folk festival with a funfair, market stalls and, as before, a horse market.
Locals are familiar with it, guests are surprised by the vineyard in the middle of the Sauerland, as well as by the Motte, a faithful wooden tower hilltop castle where you can even tie the knot. Particularly worth seeing are the late Gothic Antwerp folding altar in St. Lambert's Church in Affeln and the Rennofen Gut Berentrop, the best preserved of its kind in the Märkischer Kreis. A wide variety of cultural events round off the leisure options.
But what would all this be without attractive housing and interesting jobs? The tranquil Hönnestadt is home to some of the most important medium-sized companies and even world market leaders.
Guests can easily find a suitable temporary home from the wide range of hotels, inns, guesthouses, vacation apartments and vacation homes. Restaurants, cafés and bistros serve up many a culinary delicacy.
