In terms of trees, beech dominates our forest and finds the best conditions here. Planted tree species such as Douglas fir, spruce and larch also enrich our flora.
Who knows the invisible helpers of the forest? Fungi (and bacteria) help to supply trees with water and minerals, while the trees provide them with carbohydrates.
Lichens are the pioneers in inhospitable locations and prepare the habitat for other species. Dead wood tells of the cycle of life. Dead trees are decomposed by insects, worms, mites and fungi and transformed into fertile soil. The wood ants are the health police of the forest and prevent the mass reproduction of millions of insects, spiders, larvae and caterpillars by preying on them, thus maintaining the ecological balance. Finally, you will also discover a model of a charcoal kiln, which was once used to extract charcoal.
