Marketplace Allendorf, Allendorfer Str. 53, 59846 Sundern
Beautiful, sunny hike through Allendorf's fields with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. Many benches invite you to take a break.
Leave the parking lot via the crosswalk and Wenden to the right. After a few meters, turn left into the "Seilbecker Weg", which you follow straight ahead and slightly uphill to the foot of the Eichenberg. From here, the blue H of the Sauerland-Höhenflug will accompany you for a while. Keep left at the signpost and walk along the foot of the Eichenberg until you come to a barn. Here the path turns left down into the valley. When the blue H turns right, continue straight ahead for a short distance (AL1) before turning right without a signpost. You will come to a memorial between three oak trees, which commemorates the first civilian deaths of the Second World War in Germany. Five young people were killed and two women seriously injured here on June 27, 1940 when a late-war fuse exploded. The trail continues around the Hengstenberg and through the idyllic Kolmecke valley back to Allendorf. At the end of the Hengstenberg, you will come across the Al1 hiking sign again, which leads you back to the parking lot via the street "Am Krausen Baum".
