Information

Directions

We start at the Weißenstein hiking parking lot on the edge of Halberbracht. First we turn uphill from the parking lot and after 50 m turn right onto the white circle towards the forest nature trail. With the best view of Halberbracht and the surrounding area, you gain altitude at a leisurely pace on a wide farm track. Meadows, small woods and newly colonized windfall areas alternate and provide amusement. Small boards along the way explain the flora and fauna and provide information about mining and the region. After 0.8 km, we reach a crossroads where the actual circular tour begins. We separate from the forest nature trail (on which we later return to this crossroads) and turn right with the X markings. Below the striking tower on the Kuhhelle, you walk through shady spruce forest. Then a magnificent panorama opens up and the view sweeps unhindered over the Lenne valley and the peaks of the Sauerland. At a crossroads with a signpost, we turn right onto the H trail and lose altitude on a wide path. After a short passage through the forest, you can keep an eye out again before the H path bends sharply to the right and leads back under the shady canopy. A great path now awaits us, which also leads through sparse mixed oak forest. The path ends at a forest path in the Faulbach valley. Turn right towards the nearby Meggen hut. Pass the fountain and barbecue area and follow the hiking trail ">" into the mixed forest. After a continuous ascent, the path ends at a wide forest path. Follow the X to the right until you turn sharp left uphill onto the M path at a signpost. On soft natural ground, you pass a newly populated windbreak area before turning left at the next crossroads and following the white circle uphill. You gain height in a varied way and at a bench you have a great view towards Meggen. Back in the spruce forest, you will meet the forest nature trail again a little later at a fork in the path with a rest area and follow it to the right around the Kuhhelle. As soon as you have rounded the hilltop with the tower and reached the forest path that crosses it, you are faced with a breathtaking panoramic view. You can enjoy a truly premium view without limits. A few meters to the right, there is also a bench where you can relax and "watch TV". We continue the tour on the left with the white circle and after 7.1 km we arrive back at the crossroads near Hexenplatz, which we know from the outward route. As at the beginning, we now return to the hiking parking lot, which we reach after 8.2 eventful and, above all, panoramic kilometers.

Equipment

Sturdy shoes, rain protection and hiking poles are advisable on this tour.

Safty guidelines

Some sections are quite steep. Good surefootedness is required there and on the trail sections, especially in wet weather.
Information about the rescue signs

Most hiking trails run away from towns and settlements and every hiker has thought about what would happen if an emergency were to occur. How can I be found here? Where am I anyway? Can the emergency services reach me?

But in an emergency, things have to move quickly! That's why the hiking trail network in the Lennestadt & Kirchhundem region is equipped with so-called rescue signs throughout. The green and white stickers attached to the posts of the signposts have a number that you must give when making an emergency call. This means that the emergency services know exactly where you are and valuable time can be saved.

Author Tip

The Siciliaschacht Mining Museum gives you a deep insight into the world of mining.
Right next door is the Galileo Park in the Sauerland Pyramids with changing exhibitions on various topics.
