The 3 km circular trail leads partly along the Sauerland-Höhenflug long-distance hiking trail (Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland) and shows you a lot about the "Forest School".
At the forest stadium, you first get your bearings from an information board, then you walk uphill along a narrow path and reach the forest school. You can experience a lot here: How far do the forest animals jump and how far can you get? Who lives in a wildflower meadow and who lives in a pile of deadwood? Stand in front of a giant butterfly, have your photo taken with its wings behind your back and dream that you could fly. Opposite the forest school, climb onto a viewing platform and enjoy the view.
Walk downhill along a hollow path, look through a peep box and spot a woodpecker hole. At the baby forest, you can rest on a covered bench.
You then cross the Hexentanzplatz and walk downhill along a small stream, the Welmecke, which meanders through the forest. You continue uphill over a bridge, pass a panorama board and return to the forest stadium.

There is an information board at the start of the trail to help us find our way. First we walk uphill until we reach the forest school. Here we can experience a lot: How far do forest animals jump and how far can we get? Who lives in a wildflower meadow and who lives in a pile of deadwood? We stand in front of a giant butterfly, have our picture taken with the wings on our backs and dream that we could fly. Afterwards, we go to a viewing platform and enjoy a wonderful view of the landscape. Then we walk on, passing the Landwehr and hollow paths until we reach Hexentanzplatz, a historic crossroads of former busy municipal roads. According to popular belief, witches used to ride to this place centuries ago to perform their dances here on moonlit nights. However, it is historically proven that there was a place of execution with a gallows and execution wheel near the Hexentanzplatz until the 18th century.Shortly after the Hexentanzplatz, the Wild Boar Trail turns off into the interesting, completely natural Wellmecke stream valley. Information boards explain why watercourses are the lifelines of the landscape, as well as the role of hunting. We cross the Wellmecke and walk uphill to the Protestant cemetery. Once we reach the panorama board, we pause to enjoy the view. From there, we can take a detour to the town of Neuenrade. A narrow path leads along the cemetery to Wilkestraße. A few meters further on, we come to a supermarket with a small café. There are more places to stop for refreshments further into town. From the cemetery, we walk uphill through a Buchenwald forest back to the forest stadium.
