Upländer Milchmuhseum, Usseln, Korbach Str. 6, 34508 Willingen (Upland)
6 km long themed trail on the topics of milk and agriculture. Good country air, fresh milk and original hands-on stations make for a successful family outing. Simply collect the quiz sheet from the Tourist Information at the start and receive a refreshing prize at the end. With the stamp pass app, Helma the cow asks questions digitally. The children learn how many liters a cow drinks every day, ring cowbells at the Diemel spring and throw spruce cones through the holes in a cheese tarpaulin. Short films about farming are shown in the hay barn cinema. The telescope station, photo point and cowpat trampoline are further highlights. If you need a break along the way, stop off at the Graf Stolberg Hütte or the Pön Hütte for a sweet or savory delicacy or use one of the shelters and rest areas along the way. Finally, head to the Muhseumscafé at the Upland farmer's dairy, where visitors can discover historical, fascinating and tasty facts about milk.
During the winter season, the technical installations at individual stations are dismantled due to the weather.
The Usseln Milk Adventure Trail starts at the Tourist Information in Usseln, Sportstrasse 7. If you have not yet downloaded the accompanying quiz sheet from the Internet, you can pick up the quiz sheet at the Tourist Information. The trail leads along the Diemel past the former Usseln ski jump. If you like, you can take the small parallel hiking trails through the Lohwald forest back to the hiking trail. We now come to the so-called duck pond, where there is a wonderfully situated playground for a short break. Continue along the paved path to the first interactive station, the water play station at the Pön Hütte. The Pön Hütte is located at the Usseln ski lift, which is only in operation when there is enough natural snow. We now start from here to the Diemel spring. This is followed by a somewhat long ascent. But you can manage it! Once you reach the top, turn left along a wonderful little trail to the Diemel spring. You can ring the cowbells here! Now it's a little uphill again. But there is a short break, because at the next station you can collect spruce cones and throw them through the cheese hole tarpaulin! Now it's just a few meters to the Graf Stolberg Hütte. Here you and your parents can take a longer break. With a wonderful view, there are great little films about agriculture to watch in the hay barn cinema. After the Graf Stolberg Hütte, the trail leads us to the left onto the Panorama Pönweg. To solve the quiz, count the cows or cattle through the telescope at the next station. You will soon cross the ski lift slope and can pick some delicious blueberries along the way in August. We call them "Kronoggen" in Low German. At the end of the panoramic trail, there is a photo station where you can take a great selfie! Before heading downhill to the Upland farmer's dairy, you can jump into the air again on the cowpat trampoline. Another kilometer or so downhill and you've reached the end of the trail. You can pick up a refreshing prize at the Upland farmer's dairy when you hand in your quiz sheet. Either the organic store is open or the Milchmuhseumscafé, where you can discover historical facts about milk. Have fun on our varied themed trail about agriculture and milk!
We recommend sturdy shoes, clothing suitable for the weather, rucksack provisions and sufficient liquids (water, tea). All-terrain baby carriage required. Duration with children approx. 3.5 hours (guideline, varies according to the age and fitness of the child). Pick up the quiz sheet at the tourist information office at the starting point!
There are refreshment stops along the way at the Graf Stolberg Hütte and at the end of the tour at the Milchmuhseum.
