Hikers' parking lot at the Hohe Bracht
Hikers' parking lot at the Hohe Bracht
Only a few places in the Sauerland offer such an overview of the cultural landscape of the Sauerland Rothaargebirge Nature Park. After hurricane Kyrill, a very special Naturerlebnispfad was created on the 588 m high hilltop, right next to the "Hohe Bracht" Aussichtsturm. Display boards at selected points explain natural and cultural-historical features. Massive boulders along the path make the history of the earth tangible in the truest sense of the word and rest areas with beautiful views of the mountains invite you to linger and quietly enjoy.
Another special feature of the Naturerlebnispfad is its accessibility. With the support of the NRW Foundation, it has been designed in such a way that it is comfortable for families with small children or baby carriages and for people with limited mobility.
The barrier-free trail starts at the Aussichtsturm Hohe Bracht. Sufficient parking spaces are available at the hiking parking lot. The outward route to Hohe Bracht leads over a water-bound surface. You pass the Hohe Bracht tower on the left and can enjoy the magnificent view of the beautiful landscape from the platform. Behind the tower, your path leads left into the forest. On your tour you will find displays with explanations about the rocks, "earth history you can touch". Seating, in some places also for wheelchairs to push underneath, accompanies you on your way. For the little ones, there are playgrounds along the way that invite them to run around in addition to the existing "natural forest". Enjoy the tranquillity of nature and the fantastic views at the rest points provided. Let the forest work its magic on you and get involved - there is a lot to discover. Follow the route on the water-bound surface, which is ideal for everyone to walk or cycle on, and return to the starting point at the end of the trail, the hiking parking lot at Hohe Bracht. Here you have the opportunity to stop for refreshments and indulge in culinary delights.Walking time: approx. 40 min.
