The 3.7 km long "Igelpfad" circular trail offers many surprises and adventures.
The wooden sound game, children's high seat and muddy track are just some of the adventure points on the trail, which partly leads over the Sauerland-Höhenflug (Quality Trail Hikeable Germany). Children especially like this trail, as they can experience and try out a lot here.
Compose your own melody on the wooden chime (dendrophone)! Try out the listening tube! What does it sound like when you listen into the forest? Or towards the road? Climb onto the children's high seat and with a bit of luck you can observe animals. Would you like to know what a hillebille is and what it's used for? Then take a closer look at the charcoal pile! Finally, if the weather is good, you can walk barefoot through the small muddy section along the Borkebach stream!
The restaurant "Zur Borke", phone 02394 212, www.zur-borke.de, offers refreshments along the way.
Take a quick look at the information board at the Borke hiking parking lot near Neuenrade-Blintrop and off you go. In summer, it is advisable to take the left-hand path so that you can try out the small muddy section at the Borke on the way back. You cross a small wooden bridge and walk uphill past the wooden sound game, listening tube and children's high seat until you come to the Sauerland-Höhenflug. There you turn right and find out why ants sometimes have to move. You continue until you reach a well-known junction for hikers on the watershed between the Lenne and Ruhr rivers, where the "Black Cross" has stood since time immemorial. Today, no one knows whether a hunter was shot by a poacher or an unfortunate young man took his own life here - as the legend goes - andyou turn right towards the charcoal pile. At the spot where the forest adventure trail working group has reconstructed a charcoal pile, there actually used to be a pile site. The trail continues downhill. You will pass an apiary and can look inside a beehive without fear of being stung, and just before the hiking parking lot and the "Zur Borke" restaurant, you can explore the small muddy path barefoot in summer or in rubber boots if the weather is not so good.
