The bark beetle plague has destroyed a large part of Brilon's urban forest. Trees from all over the world are gradually being planted in the REMBE® WeltWaldTM and their growth observed under the changed climatic conditions. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the University of Göttingen. Diversification will help to make the tree populations more resilient in the long term.
From the Hilbringse hiking parking lot: start in a westerly direction, past the refuge, along the forest path towards Aspe, with the Hilbringse valley on the right and the Forstenberg on the left. After approx. 900 m, turn left onto the old return path over the Forstenberg. Follow this path for approx. 1 km along the Forstenberg up to an altitude of approx. 590 meters. Continue left at the T-junction until after approx. 200 m you reach a seating area on the Rothaarsteig/Brilon Kammweg. Turn left again onto the Rothaarsteig until you reach the starting point at the hiking parking lot after 550 m.
