Information

Directions

From the Café zum Paradies, follow the U1 signs for 1.8 km and after 400 m you will come to the Mühlenkopfschanze, the impressive large ski jump in Strycktal. From the outrun, you can look up to the inrun tower, which is 120 m higher. Continue in the direction of Schöne Aussicht, then turn right over the Itter and walk back on the other side of the stream. Follow the W1 signs until you reach the starting point (direction Stryck 1.6 km). The rare ravine forest on the left-hand side is marked as the Grebensteine nature reserve. It has a special primeval forest-like vegetation. Because of the large boulders, the area is also known as a block pile forest. Summer lime trees, wych elms and sycamores grow on rocks made of gray clay slate, through which numerous springs trickle. The high humidity and low temperatures result in a montane climate in which alpine plants also thrive in the herb layer, where you can find large stands of perennial silverleaf (moon violet), as well as daphne, alpine currant, St. Christopher's wort, marascae, corydalis, scaly orchid, yellow shield fern, white butterbur and alpine witchweed. Please do not leave the hiking trail in order to protect the sensitive nature. You then pass the Mühlenkopfschanze once again and continue to the starting point.
