With its many viewpoints and a length of approx. 11 km, the Valmetal hiking trail VA6 is a beautiful afternoon hike for everyone. You hike through varied mixed forests and partly on small paths. The hiking trail is well signposted throughout, so you don't necessarily have to rely on maps.

Directions
Walk down the "Valmepochwerk" road to the right and turn left onto the small path. Follow the sign "VA6" over the small wooden bridge, then left along the Valme to the crossroads.At the crossroads, turn right into "Reitmecke", follow the sign "VA6" to the crossroads in Riese, from there the path leads above the Valme through the valley to Ramsbeck. Once you arrive above the road from Ramsbeck to Wasserfall, you can take a short detour to Ramsbeck. The Café Hamich serves delicious cakes.Continue following the "VA6" signs and up through the forest to Scheidt. Then turn right into the forest and follow the "VA6" signs. The trail runs along the left side of the valley back to the hiking parking lot.

Safty guidelines
A rescue point system has been installed in the Hochsauerland district. Rescue points can be found on the information boards at junctions and on hiking signs.
Author Tip
Once you reach the top of "Ramsbeck", it is worth taking a detour into the village.

Public transiot
Take the train to Bestwig and the bus to the bus stop "Ramsbeck Werdern". From the bus stop it is approx. 1.9 km to the hiking parking lot. You can reach the hiking parking lot from the bus stop via a hiking trail.
Getting there
First take the A44 Dortmund/Kassel highway to the Arnsberg exit, then the A445 to Arnsberg and then the A46 to Bestwig. At the Bestwig exit, turn left to the center of Bestwig, then right towards Ramsbeck, approx. 7.5 kilometers. At the end of Ramsbeck, turn left towards Valme, approx. 2 kilometers.
